One of my favorite things about warm weather is getting to wear dresses!
They are the easiest thing to throw on over a swimmie at the beach, or to slip on for date night.
This season, I have been ordering more dresses that I will probably ever wear in my life, haha, so I'm sharing a few of my favorites with y'all. Oh, and the best part is that they are all UNDER $50!
If you don't already know, I am a total bargain shopper! I love making inexpensive things look like a million bucks :)
You can actually wear most of the dresses that I picked for multiple occasions! I know most of us probably have vacations, weddings, and parties to attend in the months ahead, so find a dress that you may be able to wear to more than one event! All you have to do is change out your accessories and shoes and you've got two perfect looks. I've done this so many times, and it seriously saves me so much money and stress!
So get to shopping, and find your perfect summer dress!

In the past year, my life has changed a LOT. I've moved twice, gotten married, and completely changed my career path. In the midst of it all, one thing that I've been constantly chasing, is time.
Not enough time to plan a wedding, needing more time to move homes, and managing a timeline to change jobs... our lives revolve around time, yet it seems to escape us so easily!
On a daily basis, I find myself in a perpetual battle with the clock, never getting that coveted free time I had hoped for.
I'm beginning to realize how precious my time is, and that if I can manage it properly, my life will be a heck of a lot easier. I can have date night with my hubby, keep a clean house, cook dinners, pursue my career, and maybe even get a little me-time ;)
I've come up with a few time management tips that seem to be working for me right now, and hopefully can help you earn that little moment for yourself that you are seeking.
I think the biggest determinant for each of us, before beginning to plan, is to rank what is MOST important to you. In other words, prioritize. Since getting married my priorities have changes a bit, and I make sure to put things involving my husband in the upfront of my to-do list. Another thing that is very important to me is my own health and wellbeing! That being said, trips to the gym and to the farmer's market are towards the top of my list. Whatever your priorities may be, define them first, before diving into a plan.
Use an Agenda/Planner
This is a tactic that I have been using for YEARS! And when I say "years" I mean I think I came out of the whom with a planner in my hand, lol. But seriously, I live by my planner, and it is the holy grail of my life!!!
My older brothers and my husband always poke fun at me for being so serious about my planner, but in all honesty, it just makes my life simpler. I'm really bad at making mental notes, and trying to remind myself of things, so with my planner, I write down everything that I have planned, need to plan, need to do, etc., and then it isn't clouding up my brain and taking up any space (lord knows I've got plenty up there), haha.
Within my planner, I write out several different lists. On the "month at a glance page," I write out my appointments, travel dates, birthdays, etc.. Then there is a section where I can write out a list for each day of the year, and this is where I write my daily to-do list. This includes tasks such as paying bills, going to the grocery store, reminders to email someone, and so on. Throughout my day I check off what I get done, and the tasks that are left get pushed to the next day. Lastly, there is a "Notes" section in my planner, and this is where I write down random thoughts that come to me, like blog post ideas, something I saw online that I want to buy, ideas for my house... you get the idea.
My method probably sounds a little overboard, but that's just how my crazy self functions, haha!
Now my oldest brother is very tech-savvy and uses his iCal, and Google Drive as his planner, but for some reason I have to write it out in a physical planner.
There is no "right" way to do it - just find a system that works for you and try to be consistent with it!
Take the first 30 minutes of your work day planning out your to-do list for the day. Maybe write down your day at a glance, a few goals you'd like to reach, or even some ideas that you had in the shower this morning, lol. Get focused before you start working, and you will be so much more productive.
Do Some Prepping
Sometimes I think I am a total nut because I find myself thinking like 50 million steps ahead of myself, but in some instances is does work in my favor! Planning ahead is something I've always done, ever since I was a little girl in grade school. My mom would have me pick out my outfits every Sunday night, for the entire week. Now granted, I changed my mind on my outfit everyday, lol, but this was still a major time saver for both of us. My mom would also take my brothers and I to the store on the weekends to pick out what snacks we wanted for our lunches for the week. She would have everything packed and ready to go the night before!
Though I hated this as a kid, I've now adopted it into my weekly routines.
I even still pick out my outfits for the week on Sunday nights, lol. Most days I am running around in athletic clothes, and my hair in a messy pony, but when I know I have a shoot, or an event, it makes it so much easier to know I have a few outfit options already picked out and ready to wear!
I've recently been getting into meal prepping as well, and I'm totally loving it. I prep on Sunday and Wednesday nights, and it's making my life so much easier. Now I'm not wasting half of my day staring into my bare pantry, wondering what I'm going to eat for lunch, but I am saving time deciding on a meal, grocery shopping, AND cooking.
Plan A Little "Me-Time"
I know that undistracted, peaceful, alone time is hard to come by for a lot of us. Most of the time if you're alone, you have a million things to do, or your phone is buzzing with emails and calls. It's difficult to get away entirely.
For me, I like to use my daily workout as my me-time. I workout for an hour a day, first thing every morning. I put my headphones in, and simply focus on myself. I love starting my day this way because not only do I feel accomplished, but I've had the time to think through my day, clear my head, and now I'm ready to get going!
There are so many things you could do to sneak in a little time for yourself. Change it up, and find what works.
Plan Specific Time for Family and Friends
If you're married or in a relationship, I think it is so important that you carve out a specific night each week to have a date night with your significant other. This may be as simple as cooking dinner at home and catching up on your favorite Netflix series, or as fancy as hitting up a five star restaurant! I know my husband and I are guilty of getting too busy sometimes, and we often just catch each other in passing. When we realized we "didn't have time for date night," that's when we decided to MAKE time for it.
We've recently decided to plan date night on the same night every week, and do something different each date night. This keeps it interesting and fun for both of us! You can even take turns picking the date night activities!
As for your family and friends, don't get too busy that you don't make time for them. Maybe decide to have a once a week GNO! Get creative with your plans!
Clean When You Can
I am a total clean freak, so when I get to cleaning, sometimes I just can't get myself to stop, lol. Hoping there is someone else out there that can relate to me, HAHA! For me, there is always going to be a mess to clean up, or something that can be tidied a little more, but I take one full day in the week to do a deep clean. I catch up on my laundry, run the dishwasher, organize, all the works! This makes it easy for me to just simply maintain the house for the rest of the week.
For some of you, you hate cleaning, and it may be more effective to split up your duties through out the week!
Plan for Interrupted Time
I think we have all had days where we had so much to get done, and every intention to get it done, but somehow got interrupted a million times and ended our day feeling totally unproductive. Yup, you know that day well! I think it's always effective for me to actually PLAN for these interruptions. Sure, you don't know when they will be, or how much time they will consume, but maybe take a few things off of your to-do list for the day. This prevents that overwhelmed feeling when you look at your to-do list and didn't get everything checked off because your best friend just cried to you for an hour about her recent break-up, lol. Basically, I'm saying don't be too ambitious, and expect to get it all done without an interruption or two.
Of course, I could go on forever (lol) but I will spare you all!
I know we all have different things that make us tick, and that my planning tactics may not work for all of you, but hopefully these tips give you all some clarity on how you can have a more effective work day and maybe even find a little time for yourself. :)
So my birthday fell on a Wednesday, but that just means that I get a mid-week holiday :)
Since I am turning 24, I'm listing 24 things about myself that you may or may not know. Kinda cliche, but since I haven't been blogging for that long, I thought it'd be a great way for y'all to get to know me!
Here we goooo....
1. I graduated from Texas A&M (WHOOP!) in 2015 with a major in Marketing. I think it's the best university on earth!
2. I look forward to every holiday where a new Reese's shape is made. You know which ones I'm talking about: the eggs, pumpkins, christmas trees, hearts! Yeahhhhh, that's my jam ;)
3. Nathan (my husband) and I bought a house 6 months ago, and I am still unpacking boxes #toomuchstuff #doweneedallofthis #givesmeanxiety
4. I love waking up early! I'm a total morning person and feel most productive before the sun rises!
5. I have two older brothers (5 and 7 years older than me) and we are all three best friends. I love them to death!
6. I'm real big on money management, but my husband has expensive taste and likes to go on fancy trips (which I DO love at times, lol), so I hide money around the house where even I forget about it, haha.
7. TV series that I'm currently obsessed with --> Scandal, Revenge, How To Get Away With Murder, The Walking Dead (Does anyone else see a common theme? lol)
8. I would eat sushi all day, everyday, for the rest of my life, if that was socially acceptable.
9. My parents are the cutest - they were high school sweethearts and have been married for the past 32 years. They are total city slickers, but moved to the country about 5 years ago and now have an adorable little house with chickens, cows, horses, and a garden :)
10. I love the grocery store, and I have a new found love for cooking, soooo I go to the grocery store just about every day. #imsoweird #iknow
11. Nathan and I rescued a dog (he's a Texas Blue Lacy) that was an hour away from getting euthanized, and we named him Uno (credit to Nathan's mom). He is the best and sweetest dog ever, and actually likes me more than Nathan now :) At least I like to think so!
12. When I lift weights at the gym I listen to hard core gangster rap music because it makes me feel cool and invincible. And then the next day I can hardly walk, haha!
13. If the Food Network channel isn't on in my house, then something is wrong.
14. My brothers and I have a marketing business together called "Bumble Marketing Solutions" (and yes, we were around before the other Bumble app)
15. I would pick dessert over a normal meal, ANY day! Some of my favorites --> warm brownie with ice cream on top, white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, and chocolate chip cookies.
16. I have a specific drink that I order from Starbucks every morning: A venti iced coffee with two pumps of classic sweetener, and half and half :) I actually got this from the makeup artist, Desi Perkins and she calls it the NC35 because it looks like the mac foundation shade-NC35, lol.
17. I'm a huge believer in the law of attraction. If you focus on positive things, they will manifest.
18. 90% of the time, when I introduce myself, people misunderstand me and call me Hailey, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Katie, etc. (I guess I can't say my own name, haha) I usually just answer to whatever!
19. Going out to eat is like an event to me - I seriously love to get dolled up and go to a cute restaurant! One of the reasons I'm obsessed with brunching!
20. When Nathan and I first met, I really wasn't fond of him, lol. His last name is "Fitch" and I changed the first letter to a B, if ya catch muh drift, HA! Of course that didn't last for long, and thankfully, we can laugh about it now.
21. I have a pair of pink pig slippers that I've probably had for 8 years now, and I'm actually wearing them right now. They have been everywhere with me, and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon! Don't worry, they get frequent baths! :)
22. I love alone time! Don't get me wrong, being with friends and family is so important to me, but I have to have moments for myself. I actually prefer to run errands alone because it gives me time to think and decompress. #loner
23. It's a dream of mine to travel the globe! There are SO many places that I'd love to visit. I've actually been putting together a little list of places that I hope to see in the next few years.
24. I couldn't be more thankful for all of you! Blogging is something that I absolutely love, and it's all made possible by each one of you! Y'all are amazing, and I can't say thank you enough for your continued support! I love you to the moon and back!
So there you have it, Kayley Pate in a nutshell :)
If you made it through this entire list of 24 things about me, THANK YOU!
And thank you for celebrating with me today!! I've received so many sweet messages that I could seriously cry! Hugs and kisses to you all, and happy 4/19!

Spring is here, and summer will be here before we know it! I started feeling a little overwhelmed the other day because it seems like there are SO many things to get done before summer hits... get a good body, have money for vacations, buy an entire new wardrobe lol, and a whole lot of activities to attend (graduations, weddings, parties, vacations, etc.)! So yeah, most of these aren't REAL priorities haha, but a concern none the less ;)
I'm totally the type that has to "prepare" for everything, so you bet your bottom dollar I am already gearing up for summer time! :)
Here are a few things that I am doing to prepare for the upcoming season!
1. Making myself feel pretty - Lash extensions, spray tans, nail experiments
Summer is a season that most of us spend in shorts, tanks, and our itty bitty bikinis. This can be a daunting thought, and truly intimidating. You have to be comfortable in your own skin, and totally flaunt what yo mama gave ya (too much? lol) But in all seriousness, I know that during the summer I am going to be invited to pool parties, take trips to the lake, and be forced by the summer heat to be in shorts and tanks. Even though I am comfortable in my own skin, and think we as women should love ourselves as we are, there are a few certain regimens that just give me that extra boost of confidence for the summer.
For the record, I am in no way suggesting that you NEED any of these procedures to feel beautiful!
YOU ARE GORGEOUS AS YOU ARE! I just personally like to have these things done for the summer time.
A Good Tan
Am I the only one that feels like a million bucks when ya have a good bronze tan?
I find myself getting nit picky with the way I look occasionally, but then I get a nice dark tan and all of my problems melt away, haha!
When I was in high school and some of college I tanned in the tanning beds, but now that I realize how unhealthy that is, I either use a good rub on tan (St. Moriz, found at Ulta), or I get a spray tan.
All of the sudden, my skin looks clearer, I feel thinner, my teeth look whiter, and I suddenly have defined muscles, HAHA. Some people may totally disagree with me, but a tan is just something that I always love during the summer.
Summer is the perfect time to play around with fun nail colors and designs. I love to be adventurous with my decisions before vacations because you can totally get away with it! I once tried some crazy blue color on my nails before a trip to Mexico, and it ended up looking so pretty in all of my pics! So be adventurous and try out that cool design that you have been eyeing since December :)
I think all of us girls are aware of the summer makeup dilemma... To wear or NOT to wear makeup to an event that involves water! And if you decide to WEAR, then should you wear waterproof, or not?
Call me vain, but I am the type of gal that wears makeup to the gym, to the pool, AND when I'm at home. When it comes to a pool party, or something of the sort, I want to wear makeup, but also don't want to come up from under water looking like a raccoon, haha. I got lash extensions for the first time on my honeymoon last August and I must say they were a game changer! I didn't feel like I needed any other makeup, still felt pretty, and def didn't have to worry about looking like a coon! I know some people get really annoyed with false lashes, but I really enjoyed them, and actually just got a fresh set last week!
2. Getting Organized
I am the world's WORST at hanging onto clothes forever! Like I probably have clothes in my closet right now that I got back in the 8th grade, haha! Recently, I realized how much I needed to get rid of, and made a pact with myself that things MUST GO! Although it was tough to say goodbye to what is nearly vintage now (haha), I felt SO much better getting rid of it all. THEN I had room to go shop for new goodies :)
I also tried a new tactic that I've never tried before - I moved all of my winter clothes and shoes to a separate closet that isn't ever used, and then I was able to see what I really had for summer! I even bought a few new garment racks to display my go-to dresses, and tops for the season. Gosh, it feels good to get organized!
3. Sticking money back for spontaneous trips and adventures
I'm very big on money management, and believe you should always have a little money tucked back for a rainy day. Funny story- my grandad used to tell me that when he was growing up he would stick his extra money in an old pair of shoes, and that was his little savings account. It later got named "shoe money," and it's been something everyone in my family does, lol. So needless to say, make sure you have a little shoe money tucked away for the summer time. You never know what trips you may be invited on, or what summer adventures await you.
4. Daily gym time - switching up my routines, doing more cardio
As I mentioned above, summer means a lot of time in our most revealing clothing! I hate to feel self conscious, or uncomfortable with my body! It hinders my fun, and totally steals my joy! I know that I am the only person in charge of what my body looks and feels like, so I am upping my gym game!
I've been trying to hit the gym five times a week. I go in the mornings to get it over with, and it makes me feel motivated for the rest of my day. To get my summer bod ready, I have been changing up my workouts when I can, and doing more cardio than usual. This will help you get that little bit of definition you may be wanting! Find a routine that works for you, but don't get stagnant in it. Change it up and challenge yourself! Only you can decide what you look like in that bikini ;)
5. Healthy Now, Cheat Later
For me, I think I eat the most unhealthy during the summer! All I want is ice cream, hamburgers, and cocktails, lol. I've been trying to be healthy and stay on a pretty clean eating plan because I KNOW that once I start taking vacations I will want to splurge. I think everything is good in moderation.
Yes, I eat healthy for the most part, but I always give myself a little treat when I feel like I really want it. It's a total balancing act.
Here is a glimpse at some of my favorite healthy snacks/meals:
Fruit protein smoothies
Oatmeal with fruit and peanut butter
Hummus and veggies
Salad w/ grilled chicken
Baked Salmon and veggies
Greek yogurt w/ berries and granola
Zucchini noodles and shrimp
Chicken salad w/ light mayo
Rice cake w/ honey and bananas
If you're looking to prepare for summer time, I hope these little tips of mine help YOU!
I'd love to hear some tips from you guys! Feel free to leave a comment below!
For the past few years I have been growing my hair out, trying to get it long, strong, and healthy.
I am all about any hair product that can help me reach my goals, so I've been testing out the Eva NYC shampoo and conditioner. I had heard great things about it, but of course needed to trying it for myself.
To my surprise, it has become one of my favorite shampoos! I truly feel like my hair feels thicker, and shinier when I use it.
So let me just say that I by no means have the ideal hair. For my entire life I have hoped and prayed that maybe one day I would wake up with a new head of hair, lol. Truly though, my hair is extremely thin, frizzy, curly, and coarse. I have been on a major hair journey due to consistent bleaching and clip-in extensions, and am quite proud of where it's at now. I baby it, and want to use the best products for my hair type.
In all honesty, this shampoo and conditioner duo has quickly become one of my favorites. Why, you ask?The smell is absolutely AMAZING (I'm all about fragrance). It's a little bit vanilla with a hint of lavender (at least that's what it smells like to me, haha. Another factor that I usually look for in my hair care is if it has any anti-frizz effect. Lord knows I need all the help I can get! I'm so happy to say that my hair looks and feels sleek and shiny! WOOHOO! Lastly, who WOULDN'T want to buy this stuff just from the adorable packaging?! I'm pretty sure my eyes only see pink, haha.
Any-who, I strongly suggest this shampoo & conditioner set. It can be purchased at your local Costco, and comes in the giant pump bottles (does this make anyone else excited? lol).
Go get yourself some, and let me know how you like it!
