So it's been a hot minute since I have done a full blog post! Life gets a little crazy, but I really wanted to take some time to sit down and remind myself why I'm grateful this season. I don't know about you all, but I feel like I can be a big complainer sometimes! Either my head hurts, or I'm tired, or I'm hungry, or I just ate too much, lol. It's easy to forget about the many reasons I have to be grateful. There's a roof over my head, I have a wonderful family and friends, I have food to eat (and get too full on, haha), and I have everything I could ever need and more.
Quick story for you guys: I find myself at Starbucks more times in a week than I'm comfortable admitting (haha), and every time I pull into the drive-thru line, I always spot different things slightly hidden in the bushes along the pavement. Sometimes a grocery cart, sometimes grocery bags and blankets. Someone is clearly nesting there... in those bushes... with only a few grocery bags full of belongings and a blanket.... and here I am getting a $5 coffee for the second time today. I've never actually seen the person that stays there (I always wish I could run into them so I could buy them a coffee), but it really made me think about how much I have to be thankful for. I have NOTHING to complain about! I'm about to get a little deep here, so bear with me, lol, but I think it's so easy to be only worried about your own problems. I'm 100% guilty of thinking that I have it bad, or the circumstance that I'm facing is impossible, but then I snap myself back into reality and remind myself that my probs are petty little first world problems! Ever since I started noticing the little nest in the Starbucks line I've started a list in my journal. Every day when I wake up, I add one thing to the list that I am thankful for. It's so wonderful to start your day with a thankful heart. It really makes any problem you face in the upcoming hours not THAT bad. And one of these days I am going to find that person that sleeps in those bushes and buying them the biggest latte ever, and a scone to go with it! haha. Anyways, off my soapbox, and yes, in a round about way, I basically just said I was thankful for Starbucks, haha.
During this next week of Thanksgiving, I just want to challenge you to think about the little things that you are blessed with. Soak up all the time you have with friends and family, and don't take any of it for granted.
I am also SO thankful for all of you. You have no idea how much just a comment on one of my Instagram pictures means to me. I'm thankful for all of your encouragement and support, and I couldn't do it without you... literally, haha!
On a side note, there are SO many cute pieces that I've come across that are perfect for Thanksgiving week (like this "grateful" sweater I'm wearing)! Maybe something to wear for a fancy meal with family and friends, or some loungewear to throw on after you eat. I've linked some cute "before the meal" pieces, and "after the meal" pieces for y'all to shop. The good Lord knows that an elastic waist band is a must after that turkey! haha! Happy shopping!
